The German Constitutional Court issued a remarkable verdict on 30 June. It was described in the press as the Court’s approval of the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.

What a load of rubbish Barroso talks. The procedures for ratifying treaties are clear and nobody has any obligation to anyone else if they decdide that other things are more important than ratifying the wretched Lisbon Treaty which the European public doesn’t want.

Last week the German Ambassador said that a second No vote to Lisbon would have “horrific consequences” for Ireland.
On Tuesday the German Social Democrat spokesman on European affairs said that any economic assistance to Ireland would require “greater humility” from Dublin, a renewed commitment to the EU from Irish voters in a Lisbon [...]
